The Turtle Brace
what is the turtle brace?
The turtle brace is a form of casting or splinting to treat stable fractures, post-op immobilizations, serial casting, spasticity control, and neuropathy. It provides an amazing alternative option as opposed to the traditional plaster casting. Braces are available to fit all shapes and sizes, from newborn babies and adults. They offer braces for the wrist and fingers, elbow, and ankle.
how does it work?
The turtle brace is a mouldable brace which is placed in the oven, heated up and then applied to the treated area which is fastened with a zip. It is positioned and then hardens as the brace cools. Once the brace hardens, it is good to go!
The nature of the fabric allows it to be reshaped many times without losing its qualities, which is beneficial to make adjustments for children growing, serial casting adjustments, and other requirements. You can wear the turtle brace into the shower, bath, or the beach, and it will dry well.
What makes the turtle brace so good?
It is light weight and comfortable.
It is waterproof.
It can fit inside most joggers and can be worn for running and jumping.
It provides an easy and stress-free zipper to assist with removal. No plaster saw required!
It can be removed if there is a problem, for example, pressure area, or a child is struggling and needs a break. The brace can be removed without compromising the cast or the treated joint.
It is remoudable – which means when you are ready to the next cast, it can be placed back into the oven, and it will reset to its initial shape
