What is Respiratory Physiotherapy?

Respiratory Physiotherapy aims to promote secretion (phlegm) clearance, improve lung volumes and reduce symptoms such as shortness of breath for conditions that affect the respiratory system.

What are the signs and symptoms? 

Presence and intensity of these signs and symptoms vary depending on the stage of the disease and overall health status but can include; 

  • Shortness of breath, difficulty exercising 

  • Coughing; sometimes an irritated or uncontrolled cough, or a cough at night/when lying flat 

  • Excessive secretions (phlegm) 

  • Pain 

  • Wheezing 

  • Recurrent chest infections 

  • Reduced oxygenation
