GaitKeeper Treadmill

GaitSens Program

How does it work?

The GaitKeeper® Treadmill is a specialised rehabilitation treadmill that has options to incline, adjustable speed and has a reverse function as well. This treadmill has installed weight sensors within the platform which detects information about a persons’ gait pattern in real-time, such as step length, swing phase, base of support and weight-bearing dynamics. The GaitSens® technology is a program used conjunction with the GaitKeeper® Treadmill which provides a graphical representation of the data for our therapists.

This technology allows for a quick and easy identification of any asymmetries in a gait pattern. Our therapist can then use this information to facilitate a treatment plan to address and target the identified gait or balance concerns. The treadmill can be used in the training of gait in real time with visual and auditory feedback being provided as the client is walking.

It is not just for walking, it can help with standing balance too!

Because the GaitKeeper® Treadmill has installed weight sensors, we can analysis a person’s standing balance and their weight bearing status (whether their centre of gravity is centred and if not, by how much). With this information, we can deliver standing balance standing and retraining to improve static and dynamic balance.

Who would benefit from the use of a GaitKeeper® assessment?

Anyone that is capable of standing up onto the platform is able to participate in an assessment. The machine has adjustable rails for support when stepping onto the platform and while in use. We have found it extremely useful for gaining gait and balance data for our neurological impaired clients who have walking impairments and reduced static and dynamic balance.

How can this benefit you?

Those who have tried our new GaitKeeper® Treadmill, have enjoyed the visual feedback that the GaitSens® technology provides. Our clients have reported that is easy to follow and they have found the equipment helpful to gain a better understanding of their own weight bearing status and sense of action of their body.
